It was a nice feeling coming home and finding a package from Rough Trade inside
the door, containing Jeffrey's new album. I really, really liked his debut "The
Last Time I Did Acid I Went Insane", and had really high expectations. And
I didn't get disappointed. Jeff's quirky take on folk is the best I've heard in
a long time. Intimate beautiful songs, mixed with harder garagey stuff which is
just as beautiful, but in a different way. The lyrics range from a circle-of-life
theme in "Back When I Was 4", to the record industry, realizing that
you actually don't look much like a hippie anymore, and horror movie imagery in
"If You Shoot The Head You Kill The Ghoul", this album containing both
rather quiet introspection as well as desperation and frustration.
