OLD:  The Jeffrey Lewis album "It's the Ones Who've Cracked That the Light Shines Through" is out on Rough Trade Records, in stores in the UK and Europe as of July 7 2003, and in stores in the US as of August 7 2003. It got a great amount of website-based positive press, though less printed press than the first album - possibly this was partially due to Rough Trade having a different "plugging" guy, with a different approach to trying to spread the word. See the Press page for some reviews, and the Links page for more stuff.

Unfortunately the US and Spain versions of the "Ones Who've Cracked..." album went out with screwed-up packaging (a transparent tray rather than a black one, and off-center artwork)! I caught the error when it was going out as promo copies in late July 2003, but apparently it was never corrected and copies have been distributed with the errors intact. Sightings of these horrible mutants ranged from Kim's on 8th St to the Virgin and Tower chain stores here in New York City and up to Borders stores in Westchester and all around Spain! I was TOTALLY fuming about this, and did all I could to get these embarrassing things recalled from store shelves and replaced with correct versions. After much chagrin and hassle it came down to the fact that apparently all I could do was wait for stores to sell out their stock and get the correct versions if they order more, but the sad truth about the music industry is that any album that doesn't sell out within the first week or two of release is not going to get reordered anyway. Plus the incorrect versions are spread far and wide, in May 2005 I bought about a dozen of them to get them off the shelves at the Los Angeles Amoeba Records store!

To hear two songs performed by The Loners (London's best 13 year old rock band, circa 2004) when they joined the Jeffrey Lewis Band on stage at the Lock 17 show, London, Feb 2004 go here...
