The Jeffrey Lewis comic book series FUFF (formerly Guff) is rolling along... Issue # 6 is out now!
Fuff # 1 is BACK in print! Fuff # 1 comes with a CD of the rhyming lecture “The History Of Punk on the Lower East Side, 1950-1975", as heard on NPR, WFMU, WBAI and elsewhere... Issue #1 completely sold out of its first printing, and apparently a signed copy of a first printing recently sold on eBay for over 30 dollars! In any case, the reprint contains more pages, an annotated discography of the History of Punk lecture, a higher quality CD, better paper and cover stock and a cheaper cover price! Copies of issues 1 - 6 are all orderable here ... Note: Issues 2 and 3 are under the title "Guff", but Googling "Guff" revealed many other publications/bands/etc with the same title... thus the series has been retitled "Fuff" for the future! (Googling "Fuff" only brings up the family page of a woman with the unlikley name of Fuff... so unless she objects, the title is wide open for use as a comic book...)

Other news.... The re-drawn version of the 72- page "1999 European Travel Diary" comic book is finished and is currently being serialized in Fuff (see above). An excerpt from this project appears in a book of hitch-hiking stories, "No Such Thing As a Free Ride? A Collection of Hitcher's Tales", published by Cassell Illustrated, which includes contributions from legends Ralph (Fritz the Cat) Bakshi and Steve (Swamp Thing) Bissette! The UK publishing date was May 12, 2005. Check it out at Amazon.co.uk. Some of the original pages from my comic were on display in 2004 at the Spitz Gallery in London at the "These Are a Few of My Favourite Things" show, alongside work by Daniel Johnston, Kimya Dawson, Devendra Banhart and Jad Fair.
Jeff recently completed a 5 page comic book for a book called "The Art of Touring" featuring art about indie-rock touring by the likes of Electrelane, Thurston Moore and others. More info to come.
The big graphic novel "Wobblies", about the legendary revolutionary union the Industrial Workers of the World, has been published by Verso! Along with two comics by Jeffrey Lewis the book includes comic work from great comic book folks such as Peter Kuper, Seth Tobocman, Nicole Schulman, Harvey Pekar and many more. Jeffrey's contributions are a 7-page piece for the first chapter of the book, dealing with the founding convention of the IWW in Chicago in 1905, and a two page piece on legendary folk singer (and IWW member) Utah Phillips. The book "Wobblies" is 240 pages of comic books and other material, and retails for $ 24.95. Ask for it at a bookstore near you! Or check it out at Amazon.com
Jeff was contacted to do a piece of art based on a song from Harry Smith's Anthology of American Folk Music, for a gallery show called Harry Smith Anthology Remixed at Alt.Gallery in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, UK. The gallery show ran between May 8 and June 30, 2007, featuring dozens of musicians each displaying artwork based on one song from the 84-song 1952 Anthology. In addition to a Jeffrey Lewis comic of the Uncle Eck Dunford song "Old Shoes and Leggins" there was Anthology-based artwork from Jad Fair, Vashti Bunyan, Arrington di Dionyso (Old Time Relijun), Kyle Fields (Little Wings), DJ Spooky and many others.
